Y2K
In 2000 McSence purchased the disused Church of Scotland manse in Mayfield and undertook a £300,000 project to convert this to a youth centre. Y2k now provides facilities for around 200 members including PCs with internet access, games, drama workshops, music lessons and many other activities. The centre also provides other functions such as educational support and personal development workshops all designed to provide a constructive and positive environment for youngsters who may otherwise go off the rails.

Green Banana
Green Banana run a referral programme over 12 sessions using video work as a tool to develop relationships and identify support, social and emotional needs which will then be passed on to the referring agencies for further work. Referrals are welcomed from school, integration teams, social services and other agencies working with young people. Green Banana also acts as a social enterprise company undertaking commissioned pieces of work with any profits after staff and equipment costs being reinvested into the parent organisation of Y2K.
Young Men's
Groupwork is undertaken with a range of ages and identified needs. Some participants are displaying anti-social behaviour within the community and are being encouraged to address their activities. Alongside this football is being utilised to encourage participation in physical recreation and has evidence of already breaking down social barriers. Groups are identified by age and peer groups for working purposes.
Young Women's
Drop-ins have been developed with staff working with vulnerable and excluded young women, with groupwork forming a large part in developing relationships with different peer and age groups. Sexual health and mental well-being is being addressed.
Y2K+plus
This service offers support, advocacy and advice to young people from Mayfield & Easthouses communities. Partnership work and referral systems have been developed with a range of agencies, eg social services, housing departments and education departments and with other appropriate agencies such as MYPAS, MELD, etc
Volunteering
The organisation also works closely with volunteers (16+) delivering a robust training programme to ensure participant confidence in engaging with any of the group aspects identified above.
